Hello Vladimir.

I think that there are two elements to this. One, economic and ecological have been in conflict. Two, at the proper discount rate, a forest in 100 years has a value of zero - a perfectly rational conclusion to make economically and an absurd one to make ecologically.
I think that this can be addressed. Ultimately, I think this is where you're going, there is sufficient demand for a beautiful habitat and biodiversity, stable climate, etc., that economics and ecology can get along, but it's going to take some changes to put those two in harmony.

Patience, Matt :)

But I'm curious, what made you think corporations were in need of reform in the first place?

This is very intriguing indeed. I've been puzzling over corporations for awhile now, and while I've been leaning toward producer cooperatives as a solution, this is certainly an appealing idea. I still need to think about it a bit.

Now, if only someone would hurry up and make one so that I could write my thesis about it...

Thank you for commenting! By the way, I liked the "Mr." in front of my given name :)

I guess everyone can say to himself whether he likes or not his job/pay. You can do a search on the Internet for the results of job satisfaction surveys. Here are two that I found - one <a href="http://www.stern.de/wirtschaft/arbeit-karriere/arbeit/:Job-Zufriedenheit-70-Prozent-Dienst-Vorschrift/519011.html">German survey</a> and <a href="http://www.conference-board.org/utilities/pressDetail.cfm?press_ID=2582">another from the US</a>.

In any case, I'm not convinced someone's appearance is enough to tell. Perhaps your bus driver is just being friendly :)

Dear Mr. Vladimir,

I thank you for reassuring me: I have calmed down. :-)

Things have become clearer. You want people to have working relations as if they were independent entrepreneurs. In the case above the bus drivers are like local McDonalds managers: they get the brand, facilities and tools to work with.

It reminds me of the story you told about handing out Ritter Sport chocolate bars to administrative employees at your company. How would these employees be employed?

I think your idea is interestingly creative. Still, questions remain. Why are they (apparently) satisfied with a static salary for driving their buses? What keeps these 'bus drivers' from employing themselves? Lack of entrepreneurial spirit? Risk avoidance?

I am sure you will let me know... :-)

Regards,

Michel

Valdimir,
I'm glad that you're back! Although I missed your ideas, I had decided to wish the best for you and had imagined you being kidnapped by a pair of gorgeous Italian models and forced to live on the Mediterranean and ingest fine wine and pasta between bouts of product testing for the enhancers advertised by spammers.

You could, for example, replace chocolate with money ;)

"Ewww! But money is a dirty word... a taboo topic..."

To which I say: "Money has no meaning itself, only the meaning we give to it."

I want people to change their thinking about money. So Ron, every time you think about money, imagine chocolate... or maybe love ;)

For example: "I receive chocolate", "I give you love", etc.

How does it feel now?
